CIAA Files Lawsuit In Federal Court Over Trademark

WOWWWWWWW . . .  even if you don’t know what the CIAA tournament is, imagine a whole city of clubs, promoters coming together for a week to host different events for a huge gathering of athletics supporters, and then being told we’re taking ALL YOUR PROFITS . . .

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association filed a lawsuit in Federal court in reference to people and businesses using the ‘CIAA’ logo without their permission.

The lawsuit says promoters and retailers must refrain from using the conference’s trademark for promotional purposes or on unlicensed merchandise.

This lawsuit comes two weeks before the CIAA basketball tournament begins in Charlotte.  This tournament is one of the biggest events held each year in Charlotte.

Numerous venues book parties during the tournament as thousands of people flock to the Queen City for the events.

The defendants include: Neighborhood Theatre, Allure Life Entertainment, 5th Element, Southern Dynasty Entertainment, Torri Entertainment, Maz Entertainment, and Dream NC.
